Dear you,
The Harvest Moon was full last night, and if the sky is clear this evening it will still come up big and low and faintly orange a little after sunset. It got its name from farmers who needed the extra light to bring the crops in before the weather turned, and I like that it’s such a practical moon. It isn’t asking for a wish. It’s asking what you have already gathered.
Most of us are very good at listing what didn’t grow this year: the reply that never came, the plan that stalled, the person who went quiet. We are much worse at counting what did. And something did, even if it looks small from where you’re standing. A boundary you held. A morning you got up when it was hard. A friendship that got deeper without anyone announcing it.
So here is your one small step. Before you go to bed tonight, write down three things you brought in this year. Only three, and they’re allowed to be modest. Put the list somewhere you’ll see it on Wednesday, which is usually the day the week starts to feel heavy.
There are a few full moon rituals that aren’t cheesy in the journal, if you’d like something to do under it tonight.
