Aries, born between the twenty first of March and the nineteenth of April, gets the Emperor, and most people meeting that for the first time are slightly disappointed. They were hoping for something with more fire in it.
Stay with it, because the Emperor is a stranger card than his reputation. He is the one who builds the thing everybody else stands on, and the picture rarely shows what that costs him.
Why Aries gets the Emperor
Aries is the first sign, the one that starts things, and the Emperor is what happens when starting has to become something that lasts. He sits on a stone seat with rams carved into it, holding an order he made himself, and the interesting question about him is never whether he is in charge. Aries is cardinal fire, and the court card that carries that is the Queen of Wands: warm, direct, and impossible to ignore in a room, with a black cat at her feet that nobody ever explains. She is the sociable half of what the Emperor does alone.

Aries in love, read through the Emperor
The Emperor loves by making things safe. Bills paid, plans made, the car looked at before the long drive. It is real affection and it does not always arrive in words, which is why Aries in love is sometimes described as distant by people who were being looked after the entire time.
Where it goes wrong is control dressed as care, and the giveaway is small: doing things for someone rather than with them, and being irritated when they do it differently.
Aries at work
Excellent at the founding stage, at deciding, at taking the responsibility nobody else wants. Less good at the long middle, where a project needs maintenance rather than momentum, and most Aries burnout comes from there rather than from overwork.

Why is Aries the Emperor and not the Tower?
The Tower belongs to Mars, which rules Aries, so the confusion is fair. In the standard correspondences the sign itself takes the Emperor, and Mars takes the Tower, which is why Aries so often feels like both at once.
Is the Emperor a cold card?
He gets read that way and it is a shallow reading. The Emperor builds something other people can stand on, and the cost of that is rarely discussed, which is exactly where an Aries reading tends to go.
